Anoopam Mission Canada is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization based on Hindu Swaminarayan philosophy. Inspired by Sant Bhagwant Sahebji, it is dedicated to improving society by promoting selfless service to humanity.

The social, spiritual, cultural and community activities of Anoopam Mission Canada aim to provide a platform for teachings, activities and inspiration for individuals to live to their fullest potential, in a way that benefits oneself, one’s family, one’s community and one’s country.

Anoopam Mission strives to cultivate and inspire living based on the humanitarian spiritual values of love, compassion, harmony, honesty, respect, kindness and peace, through informal education, discourses, seminars, and activities – ranging from yoga, sports, music, and dance to community service and charitable work.

Our Philosophy

Hinduism is a diverse and rich faith with many streams and spiritual paths. The Swaminarayan Movement was founded by the social and spiritual reformer, Lord Swaminarayan (1781-1830 AD). Regarded as a manifestation of God, Lord Swaminarayan was present on Earth during a time of great social upheaval. Over the span of just 49 years, Lord Swaminarayan promoted a code of ethics that championed an interest in philosophy and truth-seeking, as well as a message of peace and unity. He laid down the foundation of a spiritual path to be followed by his devotees and generations to come for the continued moral upliftment of humanity. As Lord Swaminarayan’s spiritual successor, Sant Bhagwant Sahebji continues to guide his devotees towards upliftment.

Our Goals

Anoopam Mission undertakes its spiritual philosophy by fusing ‘Bhakti yoga’ (the yoga of devotion) and ‘Karma yoga’ (the yoga of action).

Bhakti yoga is devotion to the Supreme Reality and includes prayer, chanting and meditation. Karma yoga involves performing selfless service – expecting nothing by way of compensation, gratitude, or praise – and humbly offering the results of work to the Lord.

The devotion to the Lord, which is inherent in both Bhakti yoga and Karma yoga, evolves out of dedication to a living Guru who has attained the status of ‘Akshar’ – or oneness with God. Dedication to this Guru leads the Guru’s own devotee to attain oneness with the ‘Purushottam’ – meaning the Supreme Reality or God. Sant Bhagwant Sahebji inspires his devotees to do this by serving humanity because it results in the service to the Lord Himself.

Devotees are instructed to live a life that reflects truth, love, devotion, non-violence and compassion. The need to recognize the Divine in every human being – regardless of caste, colour, religion, social class, or creed – is emphasized.
